Can I use the Structure Sensor to capture 3D scans of shiny, reflective surfaces?

Shiny, reflective surfaces are a challenge for many depth sensors that use lasers for capturing 3D data. Reflective surfaces can reflect the laser light in unexpected ways, impeding operation. Many users have found better results by treating reflective surfaces with removable opaque paint, powder, or tape prior to 3D scanning.
